MOUNT NELSON HOTEL LEADS THE WAY IN ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT BY USING EARTHWORMS TO COMPOST IT’S WASTE
01 August 2006The Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town became home to thousands of hungry new guests last month with the establishment of an on-site worm farm, or vermiculture, to process leftover food and other organic matter.  As well as being a novel new way to dispose of waste, the end-product, called vermicast, is rich in nutrients and will be used by the gardening team as a fertiliser and soil conditioner for the nine acre garden.

07 December 2005As temperatures plummet below freezing in St Petersburg, the Grand Hotel Europe has just unveiled the city’s first open air Ice Bar. Located on the corner of Nevsky Prospekt and Mikhailovskaya Ulitsa, the bar offers a luxurious selection of bracing drinks including Louis Roederer Champagne, fine Russian vodkas and mulled wine, as well as three different kinds of black caviar and oysters.

03 November 20056 September 2005 – In a glittering awards ceremony in London last night, the legendary Hotel Cipriani in Venice was voted Condé Nast Traveller’s best hotel in Europe, Asia Minor and the Russian Federation in the ‘Overseas Leisure Hotels’ category, whilst on an international scale the hotel was placed 6th in the ‘World’s Top 100’ list, covering all categories. Hotel Cipriani rated highly with scores of 99.78 for location, 98.99 for ambience and 97.65 for standard /comfort of accommodation. Its overall score was 95.67.
