Throughout this year’s festive season, Orient-Express Trains & Cruises is hosting a wonderful array of worldwide celebrations. Whether you are planning to spend it close to home or further afield, here is our pick of seasonal holiday and gift ideas from around the world. 

UK DAY TRAINS

Throughout December the British Pullman and Northern Belle will be operating a full programme of Christmas lunch  and dinner departures.   These festive trips are available between the 6th-21st December departing from London Victoriaand regional cities, such as Birmingham, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Oxfordand Manchester.   Get into the festive spirit, as you step back in time and enter your beautifully decorated carriage. Listen to musicians playing Christmas favourites and enjoy a spectacular feast of fine cuisine, mulled wines and mince pies. Price per person is £240 for the British Pullman and £185 for the Northern Belle and includes a five course table d’hôte lunch or dinner with champagne and fine wine. 

The British Pullman is operating a Christmas at Chatsworth House  trip on the 16th November for those keen to get ahead with the festivities.   This trip includes brunch on the outward journey, entrance to Chatsworth House and a five course dinner with champagne and wine on the return journey. Historic Chatsworth House, set in the magnificent landscape of Derbyshire’s Peak District National Park, is specially decorated for this magical time with candles, Christmas trees, and beautiful foliage and decorations.   In addition to this, there are ample opportunities for those who wish to indulge in a spot of Christmas shopping with the on-site farm shop, garden shop or three gift shops where you can pick up unique gifts for loved ones.   Price per person is £295.

Throughout November and December the British Pullman and Northern Belle are operating a number of seasonal shopping trips. Destinations include London, Edinburgh, Bath and York and include brunch with bucks fizz on the outward journey, free time for Christmas shopping, a guided coach tour of the city and on the return journey a four course dinner with champagne and wine.   The price per person is £280 for the British Pullman and £235 for the Northern Belle.

Visit England’s most famous Christmas Market, Lincoln Christmas Market  with Orient-Express.   The Northern Belle is departing on Friday 2nd December and the British Pullman on Saturday 3rd December. The trip includes Brunch with bucks fizz on the outward journey, entrance and free time in the market and a four course dinner with champagne and wine on the return journey.    The price per person is £295 for the British Pullman and £235 for the Northern Belle. 

The British Pullman is operating a very festive trip to Canterburywhich includes carol singing at the Cathedral and free time in Canterburyto explore the variety of shops.   This trip departs on Thursday 8th December and the price is £265 per person.

Still looking for a unique way to see in the New Year? Treat your family and friends to the ultimate New Year’s Eve celebration on board the British Pullman and Northern Belle. On the British Pullman guests enjoy a five course dinner with music before welcoming in the New Year to the sounds of a lone midnightpiper.   The price per person is £295. 

On the Northern Belle guests enjoy a five course dinner with a magician and music. Shortly before the stroke of midnightguests disembark the train at Carnforth Railway Station and enjoy a glass of Champagnewhilst listening to a piper welcome in the New Year.   The price per person is £225.

SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS SHOW

Orient-Express, for the first time, will be exhibiting at the Spirit of Christmas Show  taking place from Wednesday 2nd – Sunday 6th November at Grand Hall Olympia, London- Stand E31.   Visitors to the stand can purchase any Orient-Express journey or gift vouchers towards a journey.   As a special Christmas treat, Orient-Express will be running a competition for all visitors to the stand to win an Orient-Express experience.   The Spirit Of Christmas Show is the ideal place to find your Christmas spirit and to stock up on presents for friends and family. 

ASIA 

Over in the Far East- the world’s most exotic train, the Eastern & Oriental Express will be running Christmas and New Year journeys from Bangkokto Singapore. On both journeys all passengers will receive a special Orient-Express gift on their pillow as they return to their comfortable cabins after enjoying their gourmet dinner with a special festive cocktail.   These trips depart from Bangkokon the 24th and 31st December with prices starting from £960 per person for a two night journey. 

MYANMAR(Burma)

The Road To Mandalay cruises along the stunning Irrawaddy Riverin Myanmarproviding the most comfortable vantage point from which to absorb the surrounding serene beauty, taking in golden-spired pagodas, ancient temples, sleepy riverside settlements and saffron-clad monks.  On the 24th and 31st December there will be a special Elephant Cocktail Party onboard on the top deck.   There will be a traditional Burmese drum orchestra and a “dancing elephant” for guests to watch whilst enjoying champagne, cocktails and canapés prior to indulging in a special feast prepared by the chef.   A surprise gift will also be placed in the guests cabins on those evenings.    Prices start from £1180 for a four night cruise which includes domestic flights and all meals on board.
